What we believe... Grace Life Bible Fellowship’s Basic Statement of Faith
1. We believe the Bible, as contained in the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. The Bible is God’s book about Himself so that we may know Him; it is historical and relevant today for all persons and all situations in life. The Bible is the sole authority for faith and practice.
2. We believe in the Triune God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
3. We believe in the Holy Spirit, that He convicts us of sin and what is right. The Holy Spirit is the comforter and teacher of believers. We believe that all Christians have been given gifts, by the Holy Spirit, to build up and edify the body of Christ.
4. We believe that Jesus Christ was true God and true Man. That Jesus was born of a virgin. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth as a man. He lived a perfect, sinless life but was tempted like us and was without sin. He was crucified and rose again on the third day. He did this so we could be saved from the penalty of sin and from our sinful nature that was inherited from our first parents.
5. We believe that both male and female were created by God in His image. The first man, Adam, sinned and thereby brought upon his descendants all kinds of evil, and both physical and spiritual death.
6. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus, His ascension into Heaven, and that He is coming back to judge the living and the dead.
7. We believe that salvation is a gift of grace from God, that no one can work for but must be received by faith, by trusting and believing in who Jesus is and what He did at Calvary and that He rose again from the dead.
8. We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice, falling short of God’s righteous standard and breaking His commandments – and therefore are under God’s righteous judgment. Yet, God saves and gives new life to all who come to Him in repentance and faith, trusting in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. At the cross, Jesus Christ died in our place as our substitute, he willingly took God’s wrath that should have come upon us. Jesus died for the sins of the world. The invitation to believe in Jesus is open to all, and whoever desires may come unto Jesus for new life and the forgiveness of sins. We believe that when one believes in Jesus there is a heart and mind change, and one turns away from sin and turns to Jesus.
9. We believe in a future resurrection of the dead, of the just and of the unjust. We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord. Those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity in Hell.
10. We believe that water baptism and communion are the two church ordinances. Water Baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Jesus and is by immersion after salvation. Communion is done to remember the Lord’s death, resurrection and return.
*This Statement of Faith and Beliefs does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, being the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. *
